At our first Creative Studio Social, one mom came all the way from Suwanee to Snellville so her son could create. Another mom shared how grateful for siblings to finally have a space of their own. Her words: a safe space where everyone "gets it."
About 20 siblings, caregivers, and adults with disabilities joined us for an afternoon of painting, music, snacks, and real connection.
Before the doors even opened, while our founder was still setting up tables, her son walked over and wrapped her in a hug. A quiet reminder of who this space is for.
Two spaces. One community. Together. ๐ŸŽจ
Thank you Gwinnett County Community Resource Center for partnering with us, and to every family who showed up. This is just the beginning.

Special Needs Siblings is excited to present our Creative Studio Social on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in partnership with Gwinnett County Community Resource Center at Bethany Church Road!
This afternoon was created with something important in mind: two spaces, one community.
While participants ages 16+ with disabilities enjoy a relaxed Creative Studio experience with art, music, affirmations, snacks, and opportunities to connect, siblings will have a space of their own to create, talk, reflect, and connect with other siblings who understand their experiences.

Still smiling from today. ๐Ÿ’› Special Needs Sibling Still smiling from today. ๐Ÿ’›
Special Needs Siblings had the opportunity to bring our Sibshop and Parent Workshop to Camp SPEAK, @campspeak, creating intentional spaces for both siblings of individuals with disabilities and the parents who love and support their families every day.
Our siblings had a space to connect, play, talk, laugh, and simply be around other kids who understand their experience.
And our parents had a space of their own.
A space to talk.
A space to feel.
A space to be heard.
Afterward, we learned that the parents were incredibly moved by the experience and we were asked to come back next year. ๐Ÿฅน
That means so much because this is exactly why SNS exists.
A huge thank you to our Program Director Brittany for leading our Sibshop programming, and to JeJuan Stewart of EAGLE 7 Consulting for partnering with us and helping create such a meaningful space for our parents.
Today reminded us that supporting a family means creating room for everyone in it.
Strong siblings. Supported parents. Stronger families. ๐Ÿ’›

This story hit home. Not because itโ€™s rareโ€ฆ but b This story hit home.
Not because itโ€™s rareโ€ฆ but because itโ€™s common.
So many siblings of disabled individuals grow up adjusting, helping, and carrying more than people realize.
And then one dayโ€ฆ theyโ€™re expected to carry it forever.
They can love families AND still need support.
They can show up AND still deserve a life of their own.
If weโ€™re going to talk about supporting families in the disability spaceโ€ฆ
we have to include the siblings.
At every age.

๐Ÿ’“Even at a young age siblings can sense that thing ๐Ÿ’“Even at a young age siblings can sense that things aren't the same between themselves and their siblings. This can be a source of great pain as they grow older, but acknowledging this truth can be therapeutic.
It's not easy, but it's honest. Sibling relationships are vital in our families. It is crucial to recognize this because usually they will survive the parents.
Family is important. Healthy relationships are important.
We are here to continue to build awareness to this part of our families! ๐Ÿ’–
